The Department of Environment (Chattogram Division) came up with the order after a hearing on the matter, says media report quoting Muktadir Hasan, assistant director of DoE.
The paper mill was declared shut as it failed to meet four conditions including construction of an Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP) at their factory.
The department ordered factory owners to halt production until all these measures are taken.
