791 women raped, 46 murdered in Jan-July: ASK

At least 791 women were raped and 46 others killed after rape in the first seven months of the current calendar year across the country, according to a local independent rights body.

The Ain o Salish Kendra (ASK) report noted that seven victims committed suicide after rape during January to June 2019.

The data also revealed that a total of 86 cases were filed in connection with the incidents.

Besides, 135 incidents of rape attempts occurred during the period.

Some 732 women were raped in 2018, the ASK data added.
