2 Neo-JMB men held in Khulna

(BSS), Khulna Metropolitan Police (KMP) has arrested two suspected members of banned militant outfit Neo-Jamaatul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) from Old Gallamary area under Sonadanga police station in the city at the early hours today, KMP commissioner Dr Khondokar Lutful Kabir said at a press conference at the KMP headquarter in the city.

The arrested were identified as Nur Mohammad Anik, 24, son of Abdur Rahman of Ghior upazila of Manikganj district and Md. Mozahidul Islam Rafi, 23, son of Md. Rezaul Karim of Shibganj upazila of Bogura district.

Anik is also a 4th year BBA student of Khulna University and Rafi is also 4th year student of Statistics Discipline of the same University, KMP said.

The KMP boss Dr. Khondkar Lutful Kabir said on secret information a special team raided the ground floor of a three-storied building of Hasnahena in Old Gallamary area in the city and arrested them around 4:30am.

The arrestees were allegedly involved in a bomb attack at a police car garage at Arongghata Police station on December 5, 2019, he said.

They confessed to police during investigation that they were involved in Neo JMB since long and involved various criminal activities in the region.

Police seized bomb material explosives, jihadi books, one laptop, two remote controls, 144 match boxes, electronic instruments, one LED TV, 3 CD players and leaflets from their possession.

The arrestees will be sent to the court, seeking a remand prayer for the bomb attack case at Arongghata police station car garage, he added.
