There will be seven more days of lockdown in East Rajabazar in the capital to prevent coronavirus outbreak, informed Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Mayor Atiqul Islam, on Tuesday, saying “the decision to extend the lockdown was taken as the Covid-19 situation in East Rajabazar was not yet under control.”
Earlier, an experimental lockdown was carried out in the East Rajabazar area for 14 days from June 9 midnight to prevent the spread of coronavirus infection. Monday 22 June marks the end of 14 days of lockdown.
It was said at the beginning of the lockdown that if the Covid-19 situation is not under control, the lockdown will be extended to 21 days, in the continuation of this, the lockdown has been extended.
Sources said there were 39 people infected with the coronavirus in the area before the lockdown. Many more have been affected after the lockdown.
