Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dr. Benazir Ahmed instructed tight security for local and foreign tourists to develop the potential of the tourism industry in the country.
IGP gave the direction after a meeting with senior officials of the tourist police at the police headquarters on Tuesday.
At this time, Dr. Benazir Ahmed emphasized on the modernization of the tourist police. He also directed to formulate a modern approach suitable for the tourist police of Bangladesh after analyzing the activities of the tourist police in various developed and tourism-dependent countries of the world.
He asked to organize modern training facilities for tourist police. He also called for maintaining regular coordination and organizing regional conferences with the tourist police of different countries at regional and international levels.
The IGP said the website and pages of the tourist police should be user-friendly so that tourists can easily know the details including the location, security and facilities of the desired tourist spot.
Dr. Benazir Ahmed asked the tourist police officials to take initiative to make the tourism industry one of the major sources of foreign exchange by popularizing it.
