Almost all types of crimes including murder, robbery, theft, and rape have decreased a record rate in the country including the capital despite the situation crisis across the nation. This record reduction of crimes and cases is due to the best efforts of the government and law enforcement agencies. In addition, the number is now further reduced due to the risk of coronavirus infection if out of the home.
Different types of terrorists and criminals have to be under house arrest for fear of coronavirus infection. That’s why the city’s criminal activity has dropped dramatically. Not only that, but the law enforcement and the armed forces are also jointly monitoring the overall situation. Therefore, the perpetrators do not get a chance to commit any crime.
Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Deputy Commissioner (Media) Masudur Rahman said criminal activities such as murder, rape, theft, and robbery have been on the decline for some time now under the supervision of law enforcement agencies. I think this is the first time since the independence of the country that crime has dropped so much.
The police could reach any place on the empty road in a very short time as there were no crowds or vehicles on the road. This is why criminals are thinking a second time before committing a crime; Masudur Rahman added.

The number of service recipients in the police station has also decreased a lot as compared to the past. Now people come to police stations with one or two facts per day.
According to the media branch of the police, the situation is due to frequent check posts on the streets, the regular presence of law enforcement agencies, and fear of people.
