Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) has identified the Wari area in the capital as a red zone and decided to enforce a 21-day lockdown there from next Saturday (July 4).
DSCC mayor Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh on Tuesday came up with the announcement at a press briefing after a meeting at Nagar Bhaban. He said the eight roads in Wari area will be locked down for 21 days from July 4 to July 25.
“Everything will remain closed, except the drug stores and the shops of essential goods,” Taposh said
The mayor said arrangements will be made to supply daily essentials in the area in coordination with the E-Commerce Association. He said a control centre will be set up at Wari alongside a booth for the sample collection of corona suspected patients. “An isolation centre will also be there.”
After East Razabazar, Wari will be the second area in Dhaka to go under lockdown in a bid to contain the coronavirus.
