A passenger boat was capsized after being pushed by a launch named Miraj-6 at Sadarghat in Dhaka. The incident took place around 12 noon on Sunday.
Five of the six passengers on the boat were able to reach the shore, but one is still missing. Fire service divers are conducting an operation to rescue the missing passenger.
Rozina Akhter, duty officer at the fire service headquarters, said the fire service received the news at 2.25 pm on Sunday. “Immediately a team of divers was sent there,” she said. A team of divers is working to find the missing passenger. A patrol team of naval police is cooperating there too.
However, the passenger has not been found so far. Initially, the fire service could not name the missing passenger.
Earlier, on June 29, a launch named Morning Bird was sunk by another launch named Mayur-2 in the Buriganga. The bodies of 36 people were recovered in the incident.
