Now 16 year olds can also get the National Identity Card (NID) by completing the online registration process, told Kazi Ashiquzzaman, Squadron Leader in-charge of the NID branch of the Election Commission (EC), the media on Tuesday, saying the “opportunity has been given as part of the promise to give NID to those below 16-year-old.”
He said data on 16-year-olds was also collected during the 2020 voter list update. They will be able to go online and complete the registration process and download NID.
It is learned that in addition to those who have already provided information, those who have reached the age of 16 can also apply online and provide information. In this case, they have to go to the website services.nidw.gov.bd and complete the specific process.
Currently, the number of voters in the country is 10,98,19,112 – 55,77,030 of them are adults (18-years-old) have been added as new voters in March this year. The EC is already giving the NID of those who have become new voters online. Now, 16 and 17-year-olds will also get this opportunity.
