The court has granted a 10-day remand for Regent hospital MD Mizanur Rahman, arrested following the charge of providing false reports to 76 workers of the Metrorail project. On Saturday noon, the investigating officer of the case applied for a 10-day remand producing Mizanur in the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Moinul Islam. After the hearing, the court made this remand order.

DMP’s Uttara Paschim Police Station SI and case investigation officer Yadur Rahman said Mizanur Rahman, MD of Regent Hospital, was arrested from Gopalganj on Friday night on a tip-off. He had been a fugitive for some time.

Earlier on the night of July 20, a lawsuit was lodged with Uttara West police station accusing several fraud people including the Chairman and the Managing Director of the Regent Hospital, in connection to providing fake coronavirus reports to 76 Metro Rail workers. Rezaul Karim filed the case on behalf of a sub-contractor of Metrorail.

According to the case, 76 employees working in Metrorail were tested at Regent Hospital. For this, three and a half thousand takas were taken for each sample test. But coronavirus infections have increased among workers due to giving false reports without testing.
