Awami League General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader on Tuesday said that BNP has not been able to come out of the circle of lies and ill politics even with natural calamities.
“It is the tradition of the BNP to criticize the government and lie on every issue,” he made the remarks at a press briefing at his office in the Secretariat in the capital.
“This year’s flood is the result of government’s kneeling foreign policy” – in response to BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul’s such remarks, Obaidul Quader asked, “Is the recent floods in China, Japan and Assam are also the results of kneeling foreign policy? Was the flood that took place during the BNP’s tenure also due to kneeling foreign policy?”
Mentioning that BNP Secretary General could not see the attempts by the government to help the flood victims, Obaidul Quader said, “How can they see when floods have inundated 31 districts of the country, not Gulshan.”
Addressing the BNP, the Awami League General Secretary said, “Even if the BNP cannot see, the people of the country are watching the government’s humanitarian aid activities and are benefiting. 1,603 shelters have been opened in 31 districts of the country to help the flood victims. About 90,000 people have taken shelter in these shelters.”
