Shahedul Islam Sifat and Shipra Debnath, who were released on bail, said they will talk about everything.
They told the media at a hotel in Cox’s Bazar on Monday night.
At this time, Shipra said to the media workers, please, pray for us. Sifat and I are very grateful to you. You were by our side; you will be by our side. That’s all for now. We will talk about everything.
Expecting justice in the case against him, Sifat said the rumors circulating in the media that he had been taken away in an unmarked vehicle after his release from the Cox’s Bazar district jail were not correct. That car was his family car.
“Many media outlets have reported that I was shot in the leg,” Sifat said. “That’s not right. Mentally and physically I am completely healthy. I was not shot in the leg. Hopefully, there will be a fair investigation. We are grateful to the state.”
“I have been in jail for so long so I didn’t know anything,” he said. “Now out of jail, I see almost all the media has written for us.”
Shipra and Sifat are with their family members. Sifat was released from the Cox’s Bazar district jail on Monday afternoon and Shipra on Tuesday.
Retired Major Sinha Mohammad Rashed was shot dead by police at the Shamlapur check post in Teknaf on his way to Cox’s Bazar from Teknaf around 9:30 pm on July 31.
Police arrested Sifat, an eyewitness to the murder, and filed two cases against him and sent him to jail. Police arrested Shipra from Nilima Resort in Himchhari.
