A mobile court of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has imposed a fine of Tk 7.5 lakh to City Medical College & Hospital in Chandna intersection area of Gazipur city. At the same time, a fine of Tk 3.5 lakh was imposed on nearby Sheba General Hospital.
A task force formed by the Ministry of Health raided the two hospitals on Monday on allegations of irregularities and mismanagement. RAB Executive Magistrate Sarwar Alam led the operation.
Executive Magistrate Sarwar Alam said the City Medical College Hospital was operating without a license. The hospital has been fined Tk 7.5 lakh for using expired surgical equipment in the operating theater and various irregularities.
He said the hospital had not been sealed as the ministry had given time till August 23 to renew the license. However, if it is not renewed within the mentioned period, action will be taken.
