Local Government and Rural Development (LGRD) Minister Md. Tajul Islam on Wednesday said the government is going to generate electricity in the country through waste management very soon.
He made the remarks while addressing a thanksgiving to all the concerned for the smooth completion of the removal of sacrificial cattle waste under the Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) and doa mahfil at Uttara Community Center in the capital.
DNCC mayor Md. Atiqul Islam presided over the program.
Emphasizing on keeping all city corporations and small and big cities including Dhaka and villages clean and tidy, the minister said that the garbage will be collected and burned through the plant to generate electricity. For this, the project has been taken up.
Calling on the city and rural areas not to litter with the carcasses of animals and birds, the minister said that the carcasses of animals cause various diseases and germs on one hand and pollute the environment including soil, water and air on the other. “Therefore, by becoming a conscious citizen, we have to build a clean city and country by dumping garbage in certain places,” he said.
“Cleaners are also people, we have sincerity, respect and responsibility towards them,” he also said, adding that they have the right to dream and live a better life.
Under the direction of the Prime Minister, multi-storied buildings are being constructed besides increasing their various facilities. Everyone will have the opportunity to live a better life, said LGRD Minister Md. Tajul Islam.
