Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) recovered 390,000 pieces of yaba from Damdamia bordering area of Teknaf upazila in Cox’s Bazar on Saturday night. The estimated value of the recovered yaba is around Tk 11 crore 70 lakh.
BGB Teknaf Battalion (2 BGB) Commander Lt. Colonel Mohammad Faisal Hasan Khan said in a press release that on information about a large consignment of yaba from Myanmar entering Bangladesh, a special patrol team of Damdamia border outpost took position in Jadimura Omarkhal area on Saturday night.
At one point, they saw some yaba smugglers crossing the Naf River from the Red Island of Myanmar to the land border of Bangladesh at night. Sensing the presence of the patrol, they left 5 sacks of yaba and fled quickly. The patrol team recovered 390,000 pieces of yaba from the sacks. However, no one could be detained in the incident.
