The pace of coronavirus infection in India seems to be becoming more and more irresistible as nearly 70,000 people have been infected with the deadly virus in the last 24 hours.
According to the country’s Union Health Ministry, a total of 69,878 people have been infected with the deadly virus in the last 24 hours, taking the number of coronavirus cases in the country to 2,979,562. Earlier 69,652 new cases reported there on Thursday.
However, India has seen 953 deaths in the last 24 hours. Meanwhile, India is in the third position in the context of coronavirus infection and placed at the fourth after the United States, Brazil, and Mexico in terms of COVID-19 deaths. However, the death toll rose to 55,950.
Maharashtra continues to remain the worst-hit state with over 6, 57,000 infections. The death count due to the pandemic rose to 21,698, a health department statement said.
The death toll in Tamil Nadu, which has overtaken the capital Delhi, has surpassed 6,000 while the number of infected patients has increased to more than3, 50,000.
However, the recovery rate further improved, so far, 22, 22,577 people have been discharged from hospitals across the country.
