Though the Padma Bridge was supposed to be inaugurated in 2021, it is being delayed due to coronavirus. The bridge will be inaugurated in 2022, said Finance Minister A. H. M. Mustafa Kamal.
He made the remarks in an online briefing after a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Public Procurement on Wednesday. The minister said the bridge was to be in operation by 2021. That is why the work was going on in full swing. We haven’t thought about this virus earlier.
He added that the coronavirus had turned everything upside down. This work has also been hampered by the virus outbreak. Now the bridge will be inaugurated in 2022.
The Cabinet Committee on Public Procurement also approved the contract for the appointment of CSC for the main bridge and river controlling of the Padma Multipurpose Bridge project, informed minister A. H. M. Mustafa Kamal.
