The last and 41st span of the Padma Multi-Purpose Bridge has installed today on the pillars 12 and 13 at the Mawa-end in Munshiganj. With the installation of the 150 meters long span, a total of 6.15 km of the dream double-layer Padma Bridge has become visible.
Executive Engineer and Project Manager of the Padma Bridge Dewan Abdul Quader said, “The indomitable desire to win the challenge has brought success in the palm of one’s hand.”
The Padma Bridge first became visible on 30 September 2017 with the installation of the first span on the pillars 37 and 38. The overall progress of the Padma Bridge is more than 82 percent. The progress of the main bridge is 91 percent. Financial progress 88.38 percent. The contract value of the main bridge is Tk 12,133.39 crore. So far, Tk 10,723.63 crore has been spent. 100 percent work of connecting the road and service area have been completed.
The main bridge is being built by China Major Bridge Engineering Company (MBEC), a Chinese contractor, and Sino Hydro Corporation is working on river management. Abdul Momen Limited of Bangladesh has constructed two connecting roads and infrastructure. The 6.15 km long two-storey bridge is being constructed with concrete and steel.
