The long-awaited Padma Bridge will be opened for vehicular movement by June 2022, said Cabinet Secretary Khandaker Anwarul Islam. He came up with the remarks while addressing a special guest meeting at the Osmani Memorial Auditorium in the capital on Thursday.
Khandaker Anwarul Islam said, “I was the secretary of the bridge department for eight years. As a result, I still take care of it.” Local government minister Md. Tajul Islam was the chief guest at the exchange of views on ‘Incentive Package Taken by the Government of Bangladesh to Tackle COVID-19 and Sustainable and Inclusive Economic Recovery’. Senior Secretary of the Finance Department Abdur Rauf Talukder presented the keynote at the meeting.
Center for Policy Dialogue senior researcher Khandaker Golam Moazzem, Dhaka University’s Economics Department Professor Ferdousi Nahar, Executive Director of the Economic Research Group Sajjad Zaheer, President of the Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce and Industry Barrister Nihad Kabir, Head of Delight of the European Union and Ambassador of the European Union (EU) to Dhaka Renzi Tering were present.
