Secretary General of Hefazat-e-Islam Bangladesh Nur Hossain Kasemi died at a hospital in the capital (Innalillahi wa inna ilaihi rajiun). He was 74.
He breathed his last at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of United Hospital around 1:00 pm while undergoing treatment.
Maulana Mahfuzul Haque, joint secretary general of Hefazat-e-Islam Bangladesh, confirmed his death.
Allama Nur Hossain Kasemi was admitted to the hospital with breathing problems on 1 December. Later on December 10, he was put on life support at the ICU of the hospital as his condition deteriorated further.
