A charge sheet has been submitted against 14 people in a case filed over the torture of a housewife in Begumganj upazila of Noakhali.
Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) submitted the charge sheet before the court of Senior Judicial Magistrate Utpal Chowdhury on Tuesday. PBI also dropped the names of Rahmat Ullah and Mayeen Uddin Shahed from two cases filed in this regard as they were not found guilty. PBI Chattogram Division Special Police Superintendent Md Iqbal said this at a press conference held at PBI’s office in Noakhali.
The accused are Delwar Hossen Delu, Jamal Uddin alias Probasi Jamal, Nur Hossen Badol, Abdur Rahim, Mohammaed Ali alias Abul Kalam, Samsuddin Sumon alias Contractor Sumon, Israfil Hossen Miah, Mayeen Uddin Saju, Nur Hossen Rassel, Anwar Hossen Sohag, Abdur Rob Chowdhury alias Lomba Chowdhury, Mostafijur Rahman alias Arif, Mizanur Rahman alias Tareque and Moazzem Hossen Sohag alias Sohag Member.
Delwar, the local drug dealer and the chief of the Delwar force, and his men entered the woman’s house at around 10.00 pm on September 2 and started beating her for having immoral acts with the men and not agreeing to their evil proposals. At one stage, he beat and stripped the woman naked and recorded the video. When the video spread on social media at noon on October 4, there was an uproar across the country.
