Voting in the National Press Club (JPC) managing committee election for the tenure 2021-22 is underway in the capital on Thursday (December 31). The voting began at 9:00am and will continue until 5:00pm without any break.
A total of 46 candidates are vying for 17 posts of the managing committee.
Two panels led by Farida Yasmin-Omar Faruque Parishad and Sabuj-Ilyas Parishad are contesting in the election. Outside the panels, independent candidates are also contesting in the polls.
Under the supervision of senior journalist Md Mostofa-e-Jamil, a seven-member Election Conducting Committee will conduct the election. Other members of the committee are Zafar Iqbal, Mostafizur Rahman, SM Shawkat Hossain, Goutam Arindam Barua, Shamima Chowdhury and Md Moniruzzaman.
