A case has been filed against Abdul Kader, chairman of Bhararia union parishad under Manikganj Sadar upazila, for allegedly raping a housewife.
The victim filed the rape case with Manikganj Sadar Police Station on the night of December 25, confirmed Akbar Ali Khan, officer-in-charge (OC) of the police station, on Sunday (January 3).
OC Akbar Ali said: “A rape case has been filed against the chairman. The accused is now on the run. We are trying to arrest him.”
According to the case statement, the victim went to Bhararia union parishad to settle a dispute with her husband over a family feud in the afternoon on December 14 but the chairman started dilly dallying to talk on the issue.
Later around the evening, the chairman took the victim to his house assuring her of justice and raped her later. When contacted, the chairman could not be reached for comment on the issue.
