A pair of female conjoined babies were born at a clinic in Magura sadar upazila on Tuesday (January 05) afternoon.
Sonali Begum, wife of farmer Palash Mollah of Jagdal village of the upazila gave birth to the twins, who are joined at the head, through a Caesarean at Jahan Private Hospital of Magura town.
Masudul Haque, one of the physicians of the hospital, confirmed the matter. He said, “Both newborns are quite sound. But their mother is not doing well. After birth, the babies were breastfed by their mother. However, it will not be possible to keep them alive without advanced treatment. The guardians of the twins were advised to shifted them to Bangabandhu Medical University or Dhaka Medical College Hospital soon.”
Meanwhile, father of the twins Palash Mollah fell in a lot of worries about the treatment and survival of the newborns. He said, “The twins are our second babies. I’m a general farmer. I never thought Allah would put me in such a test. Doctors say they need better treatment to keep them alive. But I cannot afford it. I am appealing to the government to save my children.”
