Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal has said that militants will be rehabilitated if they return to normal life.
The home minister said this at a programme held at RAB headquarters at Kurmitola in the city on Thursday. “Militancy has not only been suppressed, but also we have given an opportunity to return to normal life,” the minister said.
“The government has adopted a zero tolerance policy to eradicate drugs, terrorism and militancy from the country. As part of its initiatives, government agencies including RAB and police are working relentlessly to suppress the militants”, he said.
Earlier, six members of the banned militant outfit Jamatul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) and three members of Ansar Al Islam surrendered in a bid to come back to normal life.
They are Shaon Muntahar Ibn Shawkat (34), Dr. Nusrat Ali Juhi (29), Abida Jannat Asma (18), Mohammad Hossain alias Hasan Gazi (23), Md. Saifullah (38), Md. Saiful Islam (31), Md. Abdullah Al Mamun (26), Md. Saidur Rahman (22) and Abdur Rahman Sohel (26).
