Managing director of Beximco Pharmaceuticals Nazmul Hassan Papon has said that the vaccine would be delivered to all districts of the country within the next four to five days.

Ex-president Zillur Rahman’ son Papon was speaking to reporters at the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) on Monday while receiving the first shipment of 5 million doses of the 30 million vaccines of Seram Institute of India.

Papon said the vaccine had arrived in Dhaka from Mumbai, India, and was being taken from the airport to the Beximco warehouse. Every vaccine will be checked there. “If there is any defect or any problem including damage, shortage, they will be taken by Beximco Pharma. Beximco will be responsible for them. We will give the government the perfect vaccine,” he added.

“We will send samples of each vaccine to the Directorate General of Drug Administration (DGDA) laboratory for testing,” he said, mentioning that “if they give clearance, we will deliver the vaccine to every district.”

“We believe that after 48 hours or in four to five days, we will be able to deliver these vaccines to all the districts of the country,” he also said.

From now on, 5 million doses of vaccine will come to the country every month, Papon said, adding that “we have bought special freezer covered vans to transport the vaccine which we did not have before. Today the vaccine is being carried in 9 covered vans. More vans will arrive next March.”
