RAB has arrested 23 gamblers in separate raids in Keraniganj and Bangshal area. RAB-10 captain Additional DIG Mahfuzur Rahman confirmed this on Wednesday.
He said the operation started on Tuesday night and ended on Wednesday morning. Meanwhile, a raid was carried out in Rasulpur area of Keraniganj Model Police Station and six gamblers were arrested while gambling at a gambling venue. Detained are: Md. Sajib Hossain (24), Muktar Chowkidar (35), Md. Ali Mollah (40), Md. Shukkur Mia (52), Md. Qayyum Sheikh (36), Md. Mosharraf Mal (29) and Md. Ronnie Hawladar (24).
Besides, 18 gamblers were arrested in another drive at Malitola area of Bangshal police station of Dhaka at around 10 pm.
Detained are: Md. Robin (32), Kamrul Hasan (42), Md. Mizanur Rahman (38), Md. Fazlul Haque (55), Shahjahan Mia (50), Md. Raju (40), Md. Shaheen (38), Md. Piyush (38), Md. Anwar Hossain (34), Md. Al-Amin (26), Shakibul Hasan (23), Md. Manik Mandal (23), Md. Ismail Hossain (28), Shamim Sarkar (52), Md. Bulbul (41) and Md. Hasan (52).
Preliminary interrogation revealed that the detainees were professional gamblers. They have been gambling with each other for a long time, creating chaos in the society and losing everything by gambling. A case has been filed against the detainees at the concerned police station.
