Dhaka University’s Mass Communication and Journalism department associate professor Samia Rahman said that I have been made a scapegoat.
Samia Rahman on Monday said this while talking at press conference held at Dhaka Reporters’ Unity in the city.
Samia alleged that she did not get justice from the incumbent authorities of the university.
Begum Rokeya University Vice-Chancellor Nazmul Ahsan Kalimullah and lawyer Turin Afroz was there.
Samia claimed that she requested the president, also the Chancellor of the university, to give strict instructions to the DU authorities for revealing the truth. I’m also in the process of taking legal action regarding the issue.
On the other hand, Samia and Syed Mahfujul Haque Marjan, lecturer of Criminology Department, co-authored an eight-page article entitled ‘A New Dimension of Colonialism and Pop Culture: A Case Study of the Cultural Imperialism’ in the journal of Social Science Review of Faculty of Social Sciences, Dhaka University on December, 2016.
Samia and Marjan in the article had copied from pages 5, 6, 66, 68 and 119 of Edward Said’s book ‘Culture and Imperialism.’ They also copied many pages from French philosopher Michel Foucault’s article titled “The Subject and Power,” for their research paper, it said.
Samia Rahman said that she did not write or submit the research that she has been accused of writing. She also has evidence in this regard.
