BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has said that BNP is not doing any politics with vaccines. It is Awami League that is doing mal-politics over the issue. On one hand, the ruling party is cheating with false and misleading information, on the other hand, it has put the people in extreme misery and suffering.
He made the remarks at a press conference at BNP chairperson’s political office in the capital’s Gulshan on Saturday (August 14).
Mirza Fakhrul said, “The government has not been able to make any scientific and practical arrangements for the collection, storage and distribution of vaccines. In addition, they have eliminated the possibility of getting vaccine from other sources due to corruption.”
The BNP secretary general said, “As per the government, only 52 lakh people have received two doses of vaccine. The first dose was served to 1.53 crore people. However, the population is about 18 crores. Doing fraud over the vaccine is a crime. Effective measures should be taken to collect vaccine immediately. In order to vaccinate the entire population, it is necessary to suspend mega projects and collect vaccine from all possible sources.”
Mirza Fakhrul also presented the decisions of the party’s National Standing Committee meeting chaired by its acting chairman Tarique Rahman at the press conference.
