A court in Dhaka has rejected a bail plea to expelled Awami League leader Helena Jahangir in a fraud case filed with the capital’s Pallabi police station.
Court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Shafikul Islam rejected the bail plea on Wednesday. Defendant’s lawyer Shafikul Islam filed the bail plea.
Earlier on Tuesday, a court in Dhaka granted bail to the expelled Awami League leader in a case filed with the capital’s Pallabi police station under the telecommunications act.
On 29 July, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) detained Helena Jahangir from her Gulshan house and reportedly seized foreign liquors, illegal walkie-talkie sets, sharp weapons, foreign currencies, casino equipment and a deer hide.
