Bangladesh national cricket team has advanced to 6th position in the ICC T20I rankings after winning the second T20 game over visitors New Zealand by four runs.
In counter to Bangladesh’s 142 for 6, New Zealand scored 137/5 in 20 overs.

After the match, the ICC T20 rankings were updated. Where Bangladesh was seen in sixth place. And Bangladesh, who were at number 10 with 234 rating points even after a historic 4-1 series win against Australia last month, moved up to number seven following their seven wickets victory in the first game of the series over the Kiwi.
According to the latest ICC T20I rankings, updated by the global cricketing body today, Bangladesh now have 241 rating points and are above the likes of West Indies (ranked 10th with 234 points), Sri Lanka (ranked 9th with 235 points), Afghanistan (ranked 8th with 236 points) and Australia (ranked 7th with 240 points).
Winning the toss Bangladesh skipper Mahmudullh Riyad chose to bat first at Mirpur Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium today. Mohammad Naim had top-scored with 39 and captain Mahmudullah added 37 to help Bangladesh reach 141-6. In reply, New Zealand was able to score 137 runs for five in 20 overs. Skipper Tom Latham 67 off 49 was the top scorer for New Zealand. New Zealand lost two early wickets as they chase 142 to beat Bangladesh in the second T20 and square the series.
Tom Blundell was stumped by Nurul Hasan off the bowling of Mahedi Hasan for 10, before the fellow opener, Rachin Ravindra was clean bowled by Shakib Al Hasan for 10.
TWM Latham and will Young put 43 off 47 runs for the third wicket stand before the latter was removed by Shakib Al Hasan. New Zealand lost their third wicket to 61 in 11 over.
Skipper Tom Latham and De Grandhomme shared 24 runs between them for the fourth wickets stand. C de Grandhomme (8) was removed by Nasum Ahmed. HM Nicholls (6) was also dismissed cheaply by Mahedi Hassan.
Skipper Tom Latham and Cole McConchie shared 45 runs between them in the sixth wickets stand but that was not enough to win the match.
Spiner Mahedi and Shakib took 2 wickets each for Bangladesh while Nasum Ahmed took one for 17 in his 3 overs.
Earlier, Bangladesh post 141 runs for six wickets in their 20 overs against visiting New Zealand in the second game of the five-match T20I series at Mirpur today.

Openers Mohammad Naim and Liton Das added 59 runs before Rachin Ravindra’s double strike. Ravindra removed Liton and Mushfiqur Rahim in the 3rd and fourth ball of the 10th over leaving Bangladesh under pressure. Liton scored 33 off 29 with the help of three fours and a lone six while Mushfiqur Rahim was dismissed for naught.
Shakib Al Hasan also dismissed cheaply scoring just 12 off 7 to McConchie. Skipper Mahmudullah and opener Naim added 34 runs for the 4th wickets stand before the latter went out scoring the team’s highest 39 off 38 with the help of three fours.
Affif Hossain who was in good form against Australia today dismissed for only 3. Skipper Mahmudullah’s 37 off 32 took Bangladesh to 141 in 20 overs.
For New Zealand, Rachin Ravindra took 3 for 22 while Patel, McConchie, and Bennett took one wicket each.
