Health and welfare Minister Zahid Maleque today said an inter-ministerial meeting is expected on Sunday to decide how to vaccinate kids and teens under the age of 18.
Zahid Maleque also said that
Pfizer and Moderna vaccines could be given to students under the age of 18.
He made the remarks after visiting the Comprehensive Examination Center for Nursing and Midwifery courses on Saturday morning.
The minister said any vaccine can be given above 18. Pfizer and Moderna vaccines may be given under 18 as per the guidelines of the World Health Organization (WHO) and other countries. Besides, an inter-ministerial meeting will decide tomorrow on how to vaccinate children.
Zahid Maleque said those who have been given the 1st dose through the campaign will be given the 2nd dose from September 7. The 2nd dose should be taken at the same center where the 1st dose was taken.
“People were less interested in getting vaccinated in the villages, so we took this program to inspire them,” he added.
