On Thursday, the Aminbazar Old Bailey Bridge on the Aminbazar-Ashulia waterway in the Gabtoli region collapsed into the river.
The incident occurred yesterday, early in the afternoon. However, no casualties were reported.
At the same time, Commodore Goram Sadeque, chairman of the Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA), announced that after the collapse, the Aminbazar-Ashulia waterway would suspend all waterway transportation.
In a press release, the BIWTA on Thursday afternoon said all the relevant owners/masters/drivers/water transport operators were being informed that the Aminbazar Old Bailey Bridge on Aminbazar-Ashulia water route at Gabtoli area collapsed into the river on Thursday. As a result, the movement of water transports in the river has become risky.
In addition, for safety reasons, red flags and red lights have been installed on different parts of the Bailey Bridge.
