The assistant judge’s wife has filed a case against her husband at Shahbagh police station alleging torture for dowry. A case has been filed under the Women and Child Abuse Prevention Act at Shahbagh Police Station on Monday, said Sub-Inspector Royal Zia.
Kaniz Fatema, the wife of the accused said that her husband assistant judge Nazrul Islam tortured her for Tk 10 lakh as dowry on August 30.
According to the details of the case, the victim was staying with her husband at the Bangladesh Judicial Administration Training Institute. He demanded tk 10 lakh as dowry from his wife to purchase a piece of land. Fatema refuses to pay him.
At one point Nazrul tortured him for money. The victim’s brother rescued him and took him to hospital for treatment. According to the case statement, the couple had been married since 2019 and Nazrul tortured them several times after their marriage.
