Prof Abul Bashar Mohammad Khurshid Alam, director general of the Directorate General of Health Services, said yesterday that the first dose of 75 lakh Covid-19 vaccines are going to be administered to signify the 75th birthday of the honourable Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina today.
Professor Khurshid said “People 25 years of age or older, who have already registered and are waiting for the Covid-19 vaccine, will be vaccinated with the first dose during a day-long special nationwide campaign starting tomorrow at 9:00 am.”
He also said “In the first two hours of the campaign, men, women and the physically challenged 50 years of age and older will receive the vaccine on a priority basis.”
Expected and nursing mothers will not be vaccinated during this campaign.
Everyone must take the Covid-19 vaccine registration card and National Identity Card (NID) to the vaccination center, the DGHS said in a statement on its verified Facebook page yesterday.
Health Minister Zahid Malik in an online news conference on Sunday mentioned that the government aims to vaccinate 80 lakh people during the campaign.
At the time, the minister further mentioned that students who are 18 years of age or older who have registered will also be vaccinated.
