Four people were injured when a 16-year-old student opened fire on a classroom at Timberview High School in Arlington, Texas. The incident took place on Wednesday, local time. News AFP.
Arlington Assistant Police Chief Kevin Colby said student Timothy George Simpkins has been arrested in connection with the incident. Colby said Simpkins fled after the incident. He later surrendered. Charges may be brought against him. Police said a gun was recovered from Simpson.
Colby told reporters it was not a violent attack. The student pulled out a weapon during the fight.
Three of the injured have been admitted to hospital, police officials said. Two of them were shot in the body. Local media reported that one of the injured, a 15-year-old boy, was in critical condition. Others are fearless. Among the injured is a pregnant woman. She was released with first aid.
The school was closed after the shooting. The police set aside a place for the parents to take the students.
Two or three shots were fired, Colby said. Security has been beefed up at Arlington School.
