Unregistered e-commerce companies will be shut down, said Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi. He said e-commerce companies will not be allowed to do business unless they register.
He came up with the comments while speaking to reporters after a meeting on e-commerce in the conference room of the Commerce Ministry at the Secretariat on Monday.
The minister said all traders will be given unique business identification numbers. Those who do not have registration will be out of business. There is no cost to register, he added.
Tipu Munshi also said that they are taking action to return Tk 214 crore that was stuck in e-commerce. He said ways are being worked out to return the money stuck at the payment gateway. Discipline in the e-commerce sector will return in the next two to three months.
