Turf war in Narsingdi: 2 killed, 9 injured

Two people have been killed in a turf war in Raipura, Narsingdi. Nine more people, including women, were injured in the incident. The clashes took place at Kacharikandi village in Pahartali UP of the upazila on Thursday morning.

The deceased were identified as Sadib Mia (19), son of Malfat Ali of Kacharikandi area of ​​the upazila and Hiran Mia (35), son of Asad Mia of the same upazila.

Confirming the matter, Narsingdi Additional Superintendent of Police (Crime) Saheb Ali Pathan said that additional police had been deployed at the spot to bring the law and order under control.

According to locals, the Bara Shah Alam and Choto Shah Alam groups at the Kacharikandi area had been at loggerheads for a long time over dominance. Tensions and disputes between the two groups have escalated over the upcoming UP elections.

For this, two groups of people clashed with sharp weapons and firearms on Thursday morning. The locals took wounded people including women to Raipura Upazila Health Complex.

The duty doctor at the time declared the two dead. The injured are being treated at various hospitals including Raipura Upazila Health Complex and Narsingdi Sadar Hospital.
