Manchester City defeated PSG 2-1 in the group stage of the UEFA Champions League to become the A group champions.
Rahim Sterling and Gabriel Jesus scored for Manchester City on Wednesday night. On the other hand, Killian Mbappe netted the only goal for PSG.
With the victory, Manchester City becomes the table topper although PSG have still one match in hand in the group stage. French club PSG is 4 points behind Man City. PSG have 8 points in 5 matches. On the other hand, Pep Guardiola’s side have a maximum of 12 points in an equal number of matches.
The first half of the game was goalless. PSG lead in the 50th minute as Mbappe drilled the ball home at the back post after Messi’s cross had deflected off Kyle Walker into the French forward’s path.
Man City drew level when Raheem Sterling poked home after a lovely ball from Rodri had set up Walker for a trademark low cross.
Neymar had a great chance to restore his side’s lead when he weaved through the penalty area but he looked disorientated as he put his shot well wide of Ederson’s right post.
City lead as Jesus netted at the 76th minutes of the match with the help of Silva. The English Giant left the field with 2-1 victory as no team could score a goal.
On the other hand, in the 63rd minute of the match, Kyle Walker increased the ball to the goal with a volley that jumped from the byline on the extended cross of the teammate from the left. Gabriel Jesus could not knock, but Sterling, standing behind him, found the address with a gentle shot.
Then in the 7th minute of the match, City went ahead with the goal of Jesus. With the help of Bernardo Silver, Gabriel Jesus defeated Kyler Navas with a right foot shot. In the end, the English giants left the field with a 2-1 scoreline in the goal of Jesus.
