A Dhaka court today granted bail to cricketer Nasir Hossain, his wife Tamima Sultana Tammi, and mother-in-law Sumi Akhter in a case filed over his ‘illegal marriage’.
Dhaka Additional Metropolitan Magistrate Tofazzal Hossain granted them bail on Monday.
Earlier, on February 24, Tamima’s husband Rakib Hasan filed the case in court. On September 30, the PBI’s Inspector of Police (Retd.) Sheikh Mohammad Mizanur Rahman found the three guilty and submitted a report to the court.
The investigation report state that Tamima did not divorce Rakib before she got married to Nasir Hossain. According to the case dossier, Rakib and Tamima got married in 2011 and they have an eight-year-old daughter.
Tamima works for a foreign airline as a member of its cabin crew. She was stranded in Saudi Arabia due to the coronavirus lockdown last year while on duty.
Rakib said he came to know about Nasir and Tamima’s marriage through wedding photos on social media. Rakib complained that Tamima married another person while already being in a marital relationship, which is ‘illegal’.
