The number of Covid-19 cases and deaths were recorded almost doubled in a day. In the last 24 hours, 730,483 people have been diagnosed with coronavirus around the world while 4,918 died from the pandemic. Russia has registered the highest number of deaths from the pandemic during the period.
Earlier on Monday, 381,872 COVID-19 patients were detected while 3,022 deaths related to the disease were reported worldwide.
As of Tuesday morning (26-12-2021), a total of 281,823,953 people has been diagnosed with coronavirus worldwide, as the death toll rises to 5,422,842 while 250,969,909 patients have recovered, according to Worldometers data.
Russia has registered the highest 937 deaths and 23,210 new cases in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of deaths to 305,155 and counting the overall caseload to 10,415,230 in the country due to the pandemic so far.
The United States has registered the second-highest death toll of 654 in the last 24 hours, raising the death toll to 839,429. The total number of COVID cases has exceeded 53,737,689 with 213,050 new infections.
Hungary has registered the third-highest death toll of 436 during the time. With this, the tally of fatalities from the pandemic has risen to 38,743 in the country. Besides, the tally of infections has surged to 1,245,319 with 7,989 new cases.
In India, 293 more people have died from Covid-19 in the last 24 hours increasing the death toll from the pandemic to 480,290. Besides, the tally of infections has surged to 34,799,691 as 6,358 new cases were confirmed during the period.
The United Kingdom has reported 98,515 new cases and 143 fresh deaths from Covid-19 in the last 24 hours, bringing the overall caseload to 12,209,991 and the death toll to 148,003 from the pandemic so far.
