Two rapists have been detained for gang-raping a housewife in Chuadanga. The housewife was kidnapped while going to a neighbours home. The rapists left her at home after three hours.
The incident took place on December 25 at Neela intersection in Chuadanga municipal area. After receiving the complaint on Monday, the police conducted a raid at night and arrested the two accused.
Arrestees are Rubel Hossain, son of Amjad Hossain and Nazim Hossain, son of Ali Hossain of Sumirdia village of Chuadanga Sadar upazila.
It is learned that the housewife went to a neighbours house on December 25. At around 8 pm, while returning home in a bird van (local vehicle), three accused came on a motorcycle and stopped the vehicle. Then they picked up the housewife. At this time, the bird driver got beaten as he tried to stop them. Later, they took the woman and raped her.
The housewife filed a case against the three last night after remaining silent for two days for the fear of embarrassment. The two accused were arrested immediately after the case was filed.
Chuadanga Sadar Police Station OC Mohammad Mohsin said the incident took place on December 25. But the housewife did not come to police for the fear of public shaming. The two accused have been arrested since the complaint was lodged last night.
The operation to arrest the accused fugitive Billal Hossain is continuing.
