Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr AK Abdul Momen has written a letter to US Secretary of State Antony Blinken to reconsider the sanctions on current and former officials of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB).
In the letter, Momen also conveyed new year greetings, said Bangladesh’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Sunday.
Earlier on December 10, the US Department of Treasury and the Department of State imposed sanctions on the RAB and seven of its current and former officials. Earl Miller, the US ambassador to Dhaka, was also summoned.
Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen said the sanctions on seven former and current RAB officials is very regretful. The matter has been discussed with the US Ambassador in Dhaka. He himself is also surprised.
