The prices of 12kg LPG cylinders, including VAT, have been reduced from Tk 1,228 to 1,178 in the private sector. The prices of LPG cylinders have again reduced in the country as the prices were reduced in the global market.
The Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC) has reduced the price of LPG, including VAT, from Tk 102.32 per kg to Tk 98.17 per kg for the current January. As a result, the price of a 12 kg cylinder has been reduced from Tk 1,228 to Tk 1,178. As per that the prices of the cylinder have been reduced to Tk 50. The prices will be effective from today (Monday, January 3) at 6 pm.
The new price was announced at a press briefing hosted by BERC online on Monday. The BERC has reduced the price of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) at the consumer level. Commission Chairman Abdul Jalil, Secretary Abu Sayeed, Member Maqbool E Ilahi and other members were present at the press conference.
Earlier, for the month of December, LPG per kg including VAT was reduced from Tk Tk 109.42 to Tk 102.32 in the private sector. The price of a 12 kg cylinder has been reduced from Tk 1,313 to Tk 1,228.
According to the new decision, the price of centrally reticulated LPG has also been reduced from Tk 99.08 per kg to Tk 94.94 per kg.
The press briefing informed the price of LP gas used in transportation, also known as autogas, has also reduced at the same time. The price of autogas for the month of January was ordered at Tk 54.94 per liter – which was Tk 57.94 in December, as a result, it was reduced by about Tk 2.30 per liter.
The press briefing said according to the Saudi CP, the prices of propane and butane were reduced to $795 per tonne to $740 and $750 per tonne to $710 respectively. The new price is set for January, considering the propane-butane blending ratio is 35:65.
“Not only 12 kg, but the price of all cylinders from 5 kg to 45 kg has been reduced,” the press briefing informed.
