After being arrested in a theft case Amjad Babu, the accused pushed the police cop and ran away with handcuffs in Thakurgaon. However, he failed to save himself from the grab of the police. The villagers caught him and handed him over to the police.
The incident took place at Shingpara village of Salandor union in Thakurgaon Sadar upazila on Saturday night. Amjad Babu, 35, is the son of Tayyab Ali of the same village.
According to the police, the theft took place at the house of Anil Chandro Odhikari of Araji Matigara village in Goreya union of Sadar police station on the night of December 13. He lodged a written complaint with the Sadar Police Station on this regard. In the allegation, he mentioned the name of Amjad Babu as suspicious. The complaint was later filed in the case. From then on, the police started looking for Babu.
Babu was arrested on Saturday on the basis of secret information. While trying to catch him, Babu pushed a constable named Ujjol Hossain and tried to escape. Later, the policemen caught him with the help of the villagers and brought him to the police station. However, Constable Ujjol Hossain was injured when his fingernails were torn off.
In this regard, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Thakurgaon Sadar Police Station Tanvirul Islam said that Babu has been arrested in a case of theft. Stolen goods have been recovered from him. He will be sent to jail through the court.
