Awami League mayor candidate Selina Hayat Ivy today won the much-talked-about Narayanganj City Corporation election unofficially. This is the third time she elected mayor of NCC.
According to the unofficial results received from all 192 polling centres, Ivy has won the election defeating her nearest rival Independent candidate Taimur Alam Khondker by 69,102 votes.
Ivy bagged 1,61,273 votes while her nearest contestant Independent candidate Taimur Alam Khandakar, with ‘elephant’ symbol, got 92,171 votes.
The presiding officer of the concerned center informed this to journalists about the result of the vote.
However, the full results have not yet been announced from the results that the Returning Officer is announcing privately on behalf of the Election Commission.
Yesterday voting began at 8:00am and ended peacefully at 4:00pm without any untoward incident being reported.
There were 192 centers with a total 517,361 voters registered under the Narayanganj City Corporation. Of them, 2,59, 646 are male voters and 2,57,511 were women. In addition, there were four third-gender voters. There were 187 polling stations and 1,301 polling booths. Of these, there were 25 makeshift polling stations.
